EFOMW’s General Assembly took place on 9-10 November 2019 in Brussels, Belgium.
Once again we had pleasure to gather and to feel the warmth and solidarity between our members from all over the Europe . We used this opportunity to strengthen out ties as well as to discuss women empowerment and anti discrimination work.
General assembly focused on development and strengthening of EFOMW and its members, and how to move forward in a changing political environment in Europe. Among other, we discussed membership, partnership and network development; advocacy in EU and UN; campaigning ideas and more.
EFOMW’s rapport (to be published soon) on ‘Muslim women situation in Belgian society’ (by Halima Benhaddou) was presented.
We look forward to fruitful cooperation in many years to come.
This year’s General Assembly was organised in connection to EFOMW’s Advocacy training for civil society 8 November in Brussels, that was attended by some of EFOMW members as well as other organisations and activists working with intersectional discrimination, women’s rights and Islamophobia. This training is one of the efforts that EFOMW puts in empowerment of its members and Muslim women grassroots – to inform, engage and develop capacities of Muslim women organisations in advocacy process – that we hope will lead to new advocacy intiatives and building of new coalitions.
