  • Counter-Islamophobia Toolkit for EU Member States
  • 26 September 2018, Brussels

  • EFOMW attended the launch event of the Counter-Islamophobia Toolkit where experts from eight European Union member states (France, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, Greece and the UK) presented the results of the counter-Islamophobia project Countering Islamophobia through the Use of Best Practice in Counter-Narratives in EU Member States.

The Counter-Islamophobia Kit project is a two-year research project led by the University of Leeds and funded by the EU Rights, Equality and Citizenship program and brings together academic and non-academic experts from across Europe.  The work documents and critically analyses dominant Islamophobic narratives, looks for effective counter-narratives to Islamophobia, looks at best practice, as well as recommendations for tackling this problem in each country. This innovative research forms the basis of the ‘Counter-Islamophobia Kit’, containing key actionable messages to be conveyed to policy makers, national governments, professionals, civil society, the media and practitioners from across the EU.
