  • Intersectionality : a tool for equality and justice in Europe
  • EFOMW participated in Symposium : 'Intersectionality : a tool for equality and justice in Europe', that  was organised by the European Network Against Racism (ENAR) in partnership with the Center for Intersectional Justice (CIJ) on 3 October 2018 in Brussels.

The aim with symposium was to exchange experiences and learn from European academics and practitioners on intersectionality, and to explore how to address multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination and ensure that all can access resources and contribute positively and equally to society.

Event included also workshops where participants from different backgrounds: CSO actors, NGOs, trade unions, equality bodies with more, had possibility to discuss and explore how to use intersectionality as a tool and new perspective in anti-discrimination work.

    Questions discussed at the symposium:

    - How can intersectionality be mobilised by activists and policy makers as a powerful tool for equality and solidarity ?
    - How can it be used to achieve more equality and justice for the most structurally disadvantaged, at the intersections of different grounds of discrimination - whether they are men*, women*, people of colour, LGBTQI*, people with disabilities, etc.?
    - How can we ensure that equality laws and policies, and by extension anti-discrimination laws and policies impact all groups of people equally ?
